M SPACE is proud to be the first company in the industry to sponsor the Modular Building Institute Educational Foundation’s Partners in Education Program. As a sponsor, M SPACE has partnered with the University of Utah, School of Architecture to share its knowledge of modular design and construction and engage architecture students in its practice.

M SPACE, in collaboration with the University of Utah, developed an Advanced Technology Construction course for the fall 2012 semester. This graduate elective course requires students to evaluate permanent modular case studies, report their findings and develop an understanding of the history, theory and knowledge related to prefabricated construction.

The course includes a site trip to Seattle, WA to tour a permanent modular school provided by M SPACE and meet architects, fabricators and building professionals from the region. This semester’s tour, led by M SPACE Chief Operating Officer, Dale Goebel and M SPACE Project Manager, Allan Long, took place on September 7th. Students examined the project’s unique features and were educated on the construction process including site preparation, transporting and delivering modular units, connecting utilities and modular construction methods.

In addition to the course, M SPACE is providing two $1,000 merit based scholarships for undergraduate or graduate architecture students. Moreover, M SPACE will further students education of the modular building industry by providing internship opportunities within their company.

“We are excited to participate in MBIEF’s Partners in Education Program and share our experience and knowledge of modular construction with students at the University of Utah,” said Jeff Deutschendorf, President and CEO of M SPACE and MBIEF Board Member. “By helping to educate the next generation of modular experts, we hope to contribute to the growth of this industry.”
