The Moore Charitable Foundation, a private non-profit foundation committed to land and water conservation, recently announced the launch of its new website at http://www.moorecharitable.org.

The Foundation was founded by lifelong conservationist Louis Bacon in 1992 and provides funding to local, regional and national conservation organizations that have protected and preserved thousands of acres of environmentally sensitive lands and water bodies. Its efforts are focused primarily in Colorado’s San Luis Valley, New York’s Long Island and Brunswick County in North Carolina.

The new website features:

  •          General background on The Moore Charitable Foundation;
  •         Information about The Moore Charitable Foundation’s founder and executive staff;
  •         News and updates about The Moore Charitable Foundation’s grants and grantees;
  •         An overview of The Moore Charitable Foundation’s activities in its geographic priority areas.

The Moore Charitable Foundation identifies organizations that align with its core mission and engages leaders in conservation and habitat management to identify the programs and organizations to which it allocates resources. Preference is given to innovative programs and projects that take a collaborative approach to solutions in the following priority areas:

  •          Land and Habitat: The Foundation is committed to furthering land and habitat efforts that help conserve precious land and protect imperiled species.
  •         Water: The Foundation is committed to protecting the health of our bays, rivers, oceans and other water systems.

“The mission of funding land and water conservation is of critical importance in the United States,” said Ann Colley, executive director of The Moore Charitable Foundation. “Even regionally-focused efforts of the organizations we support can make a big difference collectively. We want to encourage the organizations that are doing this important conservation work by telling their stories through our website and contribute to the effort of raising awareness about conservation.”

The easily navigable website features photography from conservation sites that have been the subject of The Moore Charitable Foundation’s grants. The non-profit Foundation does not accept donations or unsolicited proposals.
