The blue flag was held in the air, and the blue ribbons worn over their hearts. Team Morgan Drexen (http://www.morgandrexen.org) took part in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk in Orange County.

The 5K fundraising walk began and ended at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa, with the Orange County Chapter of the American Cancer Society reporting more than 11,000 participants.

Employee Jaime Gonzalez says cancer affects everyone in some way or another, and that’s certainly the case in his life.

“My Dad recently passed away from cancer,” he said.

“My Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of years ago, and luckily, it was diagnosed early on,” he said, which he credits for her survival.

About two dozen employees of the legal support services company signed up to participate, raising a total of $1510 so far, surpassing its pledge of $1000 and making Morgan Drexen a Blue Ribbon Team.

Holding up a flag sporting the company’s blue logo, the volunteers walked proudly among the other colleagues wearing matching blue ribbons.

The American Cancer Society reports more than $210,000 has been raised for the Orange County walk, which is in its third year.
