“We’re a big family here and we want all our family members to be healthy and happy! Of course, we’re also a hard-working family and having employees in good health means greater productivity and efficiency for our business," said CEO Walter Ledda.

Getting fit always seems to rise to the top of most New Year’s resolution lists – whether it be to eat better, lose weight or start exercising more. But according to the website statisticbrain.com, most of those treadmills will be gathering dust by the time Valentine’s Day rolls around, which means some people might still be rolling around!
That’s why Orange County company Morgan Drexen (http://morgandrexen.com) is launching a Wellness Program for its employees this week. The program, designed in partnership with its new healthcare broker Barney & Barney, starts out with a simple set of goals that will grow throughout the year.
In the beginning, it’s about walking and nutrition. Employees will have the opportunity to sign up for scheduled walks before, during and after work. The walks will begin in the Pacific Arts Plaza, where Morgan Drexen headquarters is located, and wind around the surrounding South Coast Metro area. Team captains will lead the way, awarding points to health-conscious workers. Those points will be redeemable each month for gift cards and other prizes.
“There are so many reasons a wellness program makes sense,” says Morgan Drexen CEO Walter Ledda. “We’re a big family here and we want all our family members to be healthy and happy! Of course, we’re also a hard-working family and obviously having employees in good health means greater productivity and efficiency for our business. It’s really a win-win all the way around.”
Employees will have two opportunities to sign up for the Wellness Program: on Wednesday, January 9, and Friday, January 11. Representatives from Whole Foods, the American Red Cross, FITzee Foods and more, will be available for questions and to offer tips for healthy living.
"In addition to improved physical and emotional health, I want our employees to have a better understanding of the benefits of a healthy lifestyle," says Morgan Drexen Chief Operating Officer Rita Augusta. "It goes without saying that having a healthy employee benefits both the person and the company. We're excited to get started."
The Wellness Program kickoff week will also include “Lunch and Learn” sessions, where employees will receive nutrition tips while enjoying a healthy lunch. As part of the program, participants will have their body mass index (BMI) measured. Throughout the year, continued BMI testing will take place to measure the progress of participants.
Morgan Drexen executives will be just as involved in the wellness program as other employees.
“We have to walk the walk just like everyone else!” jokes Ledda. “We’re all ready to go.”
Based in Costa Mesa, CA, Morgan Drexen employs more than 340-people. The company provides law firms across the United States with paralegal and paraprofessional support, as well as the latest in computer software designed to streamline their operations.
