San Francisco Federal Credit Union’s CommunityShare program receives the Dora Maxwell Award for California.

San Francisco Federal Credit Union is honored to receive this award that recognizes the dedication the staff has for the community

San Francisco mortgage lender, San Francisco Federal Credit Union’s CommunityShare program is the proud recipient of the 2011 Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award for California. The award recognizes efforts to strengthen local institutions and materially improve the lives of non-members through community outreach programs other than personal finance education. The award was based on the credit union’s asset size, which is more than $500 million.

San Francisco Federal Credit Union is proud to give back to the community it serves through its CommunityShare program. In addition, it has partnered with organizations allowing the credit union and its members the chance to make a difference in the San Francisco community. CommunityShare gives back to the community through donations, employee volunteerism and fundraising activities. Some CommunityShare activities for 2011 included Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk, Bowl-a-Strike for Seniors and AIDS Walk.

“San Francisco Federal Credit Union is honored to receive this award that recognizes the dedication the staff has for the community,” says Steven Stapp, president and CEO of San Francisco Federal Credit Union.

Earlier in 2011, they collected 250 pounds of food for families in need. In addition, 46 employees from San Francisco Federal Credit Union donated their time at two Food Bank events packing food. The credit union also presented a check for $6,000 for the San Francisco Food Bank and through a collection of employees and members, an additional $1,000 was raised.

In October of 2011, San Francisco Federal Credit Union raised more than $2,600 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. During the first half of October, San Francisco Federal Credit Union staff conducted a variety of activities to collect funds and raise awareness and support for leukemia, lymphoma and other blood diseases. The Credit Union raised funds through a Disneyland raffle, selling balloons, a jeans day and a PTO contest.

In 2011, San Francisco Federal Credit Union ended the year with 715 volunteer hours and more than $68,000 in total donations.
