Like the relationship between moon and star, our jewelry conveys the connections between ourselves and those we love
Harlem, New York (PRWEB) April 28, 2009
Luna & Stella, a new line of personalized birthstone jewelry, launched the moon & stars birthstone necklace today.
The name Luna & Stella means "moon and star" in Italian. "Like the relationship between moon and star, our jewelry conveys the connections between ourselves and those we love," says founder Suzanne Ellis, former Vice President of Merchandising at the online gift retailer RedEnvelope.
The moon & stars birthstone necklace can be hand-set with the birthstones of one's children, grandchildren, family, or cherished friends. Customers select silver or gold, as well as the number and type of stones they would like on http://www.lunaandstella.com. The pendant is made to order by artisans in the United States, and is ready to ship in as few as 5 days. Each birthstone carries with it centuries of legend and lore, and enhances the personal significance of the necklace to its owner.
"Our goal is to create designs that are both sophisticated and meaningful," says Ellis. "We believe that creating products that have personal meaning should not be incompatible with great design." The moon & stars necklace is a delicate circle that resembles a crescent moon, set with precious or semi-precious birthstones that evoke stars.
"Luna & Stella's designs reflect what is important to consumers today. People are looking for products that not only look great, but represent something that is important to them," says marketing expert Len Short, former CMO of the (product)RED campaign. "Luxury is out. Meaning is in."
Luna & Stella will donate $5 from every sale through Mother's Day to the Homeless Prenatal Program (HPP), a San Francisco-based non-profit which helps vulnerable families break the cycle of homelessness and poverty. Of the almost 1,400 babies that have been born to HPP families since 1992, 95% were born drug free, and over 2,200 families have been moved into permanent housing, ending homelessness for thousands of children.
"In honor of Mother's Day, we wanted to partner with an organization that helps women and children in need. We could find no better partner than the Homeless Prenatal Project, whose results are proof that there can be a path out of homelessness for struggling families," says Ellis.
"We are so honored that Luna & Stella have chosen to support the Homeless Prenatal Program, recognizing our shared passion for cherishing families," said Martha Ryan, Founder & Executive Director, Homeless Prenatal Program.
Orders placed by May 1st on http://www.lunaandstella.com are guaranteed for delivery by Mother's Day.
