Fathom is enjoying the competition of growing moustaches, and we’re proud to support changing the face of men’s health.
(PRWEB) November 29, 2012
A group of employees at Fathom, a digital marketing and analytics agency, got hairy this November by transforming into walking, talking billboards for men’s health. By pledging to grow moustaches for 30 days as part of Movember, employees have raised awareness and funds for prostate cancer.
Prostate cancer is the second-most commonly diagnosed cancer in American men behind skin cancer. The American Cancer Society states that 1 in 6 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer at some point in their life, and the disease is the second leading cause of cancer death among U.S. men, behind lung cancer.
Movember is an international campaign that allows willing men and women to register to become ‘Mo Bros’ or ‘Mo Sistas.’ These ‘Mo Bros’ start the month clean-shaven and, throughout the next 30 days, trim, groom and maintain their moustaches while raising funds with the help of ‘Mo Sistas.’ The funds are raised by seeking sponsorships for hard-earned, Mo-growing efforts.
This year, Fathom’s Movember team is made up of 9 employees, including team captain Jonathan Levey, Steve Kozak, Matthew Fieldman, Nicholas Mezlak, Brittany Potter, Chad Paul, Dusty Steinbrink, Mike Perla and Sorin Bica. So far, the team has raised a total of $672. Team members have made the most out of this year’s Movember campaign in ways other than just fundraising.
“[We’re] enjoying the competition of growing moustaches, and [we’re] proud to support changing the face of men’s health,” team captain Levey said. Levey’s role was inspired by an experience with prostate cancer that hit close to home. “I participated in Movember last year, so I decided to step up and be the team captain this year,” he said. “My grandfather survived prostate cancer several years ago and his fight inspired me to grow a moustache and raise money.”
