Special Report: Free Not Essential When it Comes to Online Movies, Say Zeeng Users

(PRWEB) February 11, 2009 -- Latin teens who watch movies and television shows online are in search for more than one thing - free content - according to the latest Linkidee Ltd. survey. Linkidee Ltd., which owns and operates Zeeng.com, a fast growing movie download website targeting "Latin teens" in Latin and North America, recently conducted a poll among its central users to better direct future development of the website and to determine which features may turn Zeeng users into Zeeng subscribers.

Comprised of two email assessments and a follow up phone call, the Zeeng.com survey examined young Latin females aged 14 to 30, and almost exclusively located in Latin America. At present, Zeeng.com's year-old Latin channel features movie download, Telenovela download, TV series download, and other videos popular among young Latinas. Survey participants overwhelmingly agreed that the site's online entertainment magazine, movies and Telenovelas found on Zeeng.com, as well as the website all together, were exceedingly above average, giving all four a high score of "very good."
In addition to content and site enhancements, results of this survey will help Zeeng gauge what website characteristics would convert current users, who at this time view Zeeng.com content free of charge, into subscribing consumers.
Of the participants polled, 36 percent said they don't purchase videos online because they can get them for free elsewhere on the Internet. However, in naming which two aspects of a video website are most important, the vast majority of participants cited the amount of content and the quality of the site's video player as most significant.
The Survey:
When the users could choose two options out of a possible six, nearly 60 percent of respondents felt that high quality download was the one of the two most important aspects of an online video download website, followed by an abundance of video content (40 percent), the latest movies and TV series (29.7 percent), low prices (29.1 percent), special offers and gifts (10.9 percent), and movies that didn't display advertisements (10.9 percent).
However, when users were asked again what would trigger them to buy a subscription, and could select only one option out of the 6 possible, survey respondents were torn between low prices (23.4 percent), new movies and TV series (21.6 percent), and a lot of content (20.4 percent). Other incentive options included special offers and gifts (18 percent), high quality HD (13.2 percent), and movies with no advertisements (3.6 percent).
In addition to high quality and loads of video content to choose from, half of the Zeeng users polled indicated that, when the price is right, they are willing to pay for premium content online. Almost 50 percent of those surveyed said "free" is a fair price to pay for downloading a movie online (45.5 percent), while 20.4 percent felt that five dollars was a fair price. Less than 14 percent (13.8) said that three dollars was fair, 11.4 percent said one dollar, and nine percent of participants said 10 dollars was a fair price to pay.
