Whether a movie features brilliant dialogue or action that keeps viewers on the edge of their seat, the reason why a film resonates with fans varies. Filmbuffet, an online movie community, recently compiled a list of the top 10 films selected as favorites by members.

The Dark Knight (2008) – Directed by Christopher Nolan, The Dark Knight helped redefine comic-book movies. The dark and dreary Gotham-City is protected by the legendary superhero Batman (Christian Bale) as he strives to keep the Joker (Heath Ledger) from destroying it.

Fight Club (1999) – This visually stunning and thought provoking film makes for an entertaining watch which put Fight Club in the ranks with other favorites among Filmbuffet members. Brad Pitt and Edward Norton are brilliant in this Oscar nominated film.

Pulp Fiction(1994) – The brilliant dialogue in this Oscar winning film by Quentin Tarantino, follows the lives of an interesting group of characters intertwined in four violent tales.

The Shawshank Redemption (1994) – In this favorite film, banker Andrew Dufresne (Tim Robbins) is sent to prison for the murder of his wife. The movie profiles his time at Shawshank Prison and the friendships he made with fellow inmates while he schemes to live life on his own terms.

Star Wars (1977) –No list of favorite movies is complete without Star Wars. The film is one of the first to bring epic fantasy to life and at the time it was released redefined the cinema experience.

The Godfather (1972) – Directed by Francis Ford Coppola and winner of three Oscars, The Godfather remains one of the greatest movies of all time and a favorite amongst Filmbuffet fans.

Blade Runner(1982) – Even 30 years after the initial release, Blade Runner remains a favorite. Nominated for two Oscars, this futuristic thriller features a blade runner on a mission to track down and eliminate four android replicants.

Inception (2010) – Winner of 4 Oscars and the second film directed by Christopher Nolan in this list of favorites, Inception profiles a world where the ability to invade the human mind through dreams.

Young Frankenstein (1974) – Directed by Mel Brooks this comedic twist on horror movies features Dr.Frankenstein’s grandson who inherits his grandfather’s castle and recreates his experiments.

Forrest Gump (1994) – One of the most quotable films with lines like “Stupid is as Stupid does,” earns Forrest Gump a spot as one of the top films selected as a favorite by Filmbuffet members. The story depicts several decades in the life of Forrest Gump and is based on the book by the same name written by Winston Groom.
