Almost everyone has a mobile phone that is always with them, but not everyone has the right amount of cash when they need it. Our proximity payment service makes giving money to someone nearby using mobile phones easier than using cash.

Austin, TX (PRWEB) December 19, 2013

Mozido, a global leader in white-label, mobile cloud technology solutions, today announced that it has begun piloting a person-to-person (P2P) proximity payment service using mobile phones.

Mozido’s new P2P service will allow people within proximity of each other to exchange funds using their mobile phones instead of using cash. The service provides greater convenience for transactions that typically require cash, such as payments to valet parkers, food delivery drivers, and people splitting a dinner bill, among many others.

“Almost everyone has a mobile phone that is always with them, but not everyone has the right amount of cash when they need it. Our proximity payment service makes giving money to someone nearby using mobile phones easier than using cash,” said Mike Love, Chief Operating Officer of Mozido. “It is a natural extension of Mozido’s mobile banking services that allow for easy domestic and international payments using mobile phones, and it leverages our existing patents in the space. We look forward to bringing this convenient service to consumers.”

Using Bluetooth Low-Energy (BLE) technology recently introduced for mobile phones, Mozido’s P2P proximity payment service will identify mobile users nearby who also use the service, allowing for easy financial transfers. “Like all of Mozido’s services, security and convenience are two of our highest priorities for our P2P proximity payment service,” said Love. “Our company’s vision is to make everyday financial transactions easy and secure for individuals and businesses throughout the world, including those that are self banked, through our mobile payment services.”

The P2P proximity payment service comes at a time of growth for Mozido, which has raised over $100 million, including a recently announced $70 million from a blue-chip investment advisory firm.

Mozido offers a number of additional services, including International remittance, bill pay and mobile top-up for unbanked and under-banked individuals, as well as loyalty programs, shopping, payment in retail stores, and tailored marketing offers, all from the convenience of mobile phones.
