Mountain River Physical Therapy (MRPT) is proud to announce the grand opening of its new Athletic Performance Center. The new facility features state- of-the–art- equipment as well as a team of clinicians dedicated to keeping athletes of all ages and skill levels active and healthy. The performance center is also excited to announce their partnership with two well-known local athletes; The Running Guy, Lee Taft and former major league Baseball pitcher, Kane Davis. Taft and Davis will act as consultants in their respective field of expertise.

MRPT's new Athletic Performance Center provides athletes with the latest in exercise equipment including a high speed treadmill. This specialized treadmill reaches speeds of up to 31 miles per hour and helps train athletes on proper form, core strength, speed, and endurance.

The new MRPT Performance Center is located at 416 37th Street in Parkersburg, West Virginia. Leading the MRPT team of experts at the center is Joe Leaman, MS, ATC. Leaman is the Director of Sports Medicine at the facility and has been a Certified Athletic Trainer for 26 years. Leaman’s specialties are sports medicine and performance training for competitive athletes. Rounding out the highly skilled team is Allison Burner, NASE, RBA; Erin Weber, RD Registered Dietician; and Rachel Romage, MS Clinical Exercise Physiologist.

“Our mission is to teach athletes the proper training techniques that will keep them injury free and performing at their highest level,” states Leaman. “Our new Athletic Performance Center is a marvelous facility and I am excited to be surrounded by a team of professionals dedicated to vastly improving the health and fitness levels of our community.”

MRPT’s Athletic Performance Center offers a variety of athletic performance services such as, Functional Movement Screening (FMS), Weight and Diabetes Management, Body Composition and VO2/Resting Metabolic Rate Assessments, Team Training, Adult and Youth Fitness, and High Speed Treadmill Training. The Center is currently providing team and individual athletic performance training and fitness classes for athletes as young as six.

The Parkersburg facility also provides athletes with the latest in exercise equipment including a high speed treadmill. This isn’t your average treadmill.
