I am truly grateful and humbled to have received the honor of Ms. America® International 2012, this is an exciting opportunity!

Carla Gonzalez from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was crowned Ms. America® International 2012 on April 15 in Anaheim, California in a ceremony hosted by the Ms. America® Pageant. She also received the “Crown for a Purpose” award in recognition of her dedication to making a difference in her community regarding her platform, Anti-Bullying. Gonzalez is originally from Idabel, a rural area of Oklahoma which she still considers to be home as most of her family, friends, and fans are still residents.

Gonzalez overcame dozens of contestants vying for the coveted title of Ms. America® International 2012 – a demonstration of her experience, grace and allure. The Ms. America® International 2012 title is part of the special awards of the Ms. America® Pageant system. Votes cast from around the world by internet fans helped make Gonzalez the People’s Choice winner, earning her the prestigious title of Ms. America® International 2012.

Ms. America® International 2012 Carla Gonzalez holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Oklahoma in Clinical Social Work and has been an employee of the Oklahoma State Department of Health for over 20 years. A motivational speaker, Carla travels to schools throughout Oklahoma giving educational presentations on Anti-Bullying, Internet Safety and Teen Dating Violence. For more than five years, Gonzalez has visited schools crusading against bullying and Teen Dating Violence, educating the youth to help prevent such violence. As a community activist, she serves on various boards and committees including: Single Parenting Network Organization, Human Trafficking Taskforce, Oklahoma Coalition against Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault Advisory Committee and Violence against Women and Girls Sub Committee.

Gonzalez is an active Philanthropist involved with several other organizations such as Oklahoma Women’s Coalition, National Organization for Women, Oklahomans Against Trafficking Humans, Internet Crimes Against Children, the International Bullying Prevention Association, National Association of Social Workers, National Coalition Against Domestic Violence and American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children. Aside from her humanitarian aspects, Gonzalez enjoys ballroom and Latin dancing, modeling, traveling, cooking, watching sports and spending time with her family and friends.    

“I am truly grateful and humbled to have received the honor of Ms. America® International 2012, this is an exciting opportunity! My goal is to take the work I am doing in Oklahoma into schools across the U.S. and work with school officials, policy makers and politicians to help strengthen current bullying policies on a state and national level, ” said Gonzalez.

In 2011, the Oklahoma Coalition against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Executive Committee honored Gonzalez with the “Power of One” award for her Teen Dating Violence Prevention efforts throughout the schools in Oklahoma.

Gonzalez will be featured on the cover of Supermodels Unlimited Magazine’s upcoming “Models & Beauty Queens” issue and can be seen in multiple Supermodels Unlimited magazine issues. Gonzalez has also modeled for many designers in various celebrity fashion shows in California, Las Vegas and New York. She will be participating in an elegant fashion show at Tao, inside the Venetian Hotel and Resort in Las Vegas in 2012.
