As with all MTU marine engines, the Series 2000 offers EPA Tier 2 certification with efficient fuel consumption, long maintenance intervals and maximized availability and reliability.
Detroit (Vocus) May 28, 2010
MTU, a global leader in power and propulsion systems, will highlight its EPA Tier 2-compliant Series 2000 and Series 60 marine engines in its booth (#319) at the Commercial Marine Expo in New Bedford, Mass., on June 9 - 10, 2010.
The Series 2000 M61 is the latest version of the engine to be specifically optimized for commercial marine applications. It is available in both 12V and 16V configurations and covers a power range of 805 to 1,070 bhp (600 - 800 kW) at 1,800 rpm. The Series 2000 M61 offers EPA Tier 2 certification with efficient fuel consumption, long maintenance intervals and maximized availability and reliability.
“We expect to see a lot of interest in the Tier 2 Series 2000 product,” said Joe Misek, Sr. Manager, Marine Sales for MTU Detroit Diesel. “It provides an EPA-compliant, fuel efficient option for repowering our legacy Detroit Diesel 2-Cycle products such as the Series 149 or Series 92 in the 800 to 1,000 horsepower range.”
The MTU Series 60 engine, also on display at the Expo, is a mainstay in the commercial marine market. It is available in 16 configurations for main propulsion power from 350 - 825 bhp and five configurations for onboard power generation.
The Commercial Marine Expo, incorporating the Fish Expo Atlantic, is the Atlantic Seaboard’s largest commercial marine tradeshow. It is being held for the first time this year at the State Pier in the heart of New Bedford’s historic working waterfront. Hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9 and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 10.
