'Maturing in Christ' has evaluation questions after each section, where readers can monitor their progress and explore the steps they still need to take as they seek God’s will for their lives and continue growing in spiritual maturity.

Co-authors Murl Silvey and Bev Silvey combine their more than 60 years’ experience as therapists to direct readers to greater spiritual maturity in their new hands-on, self-help guide, “Maturing in Christ: A Lifetime Journey” (published by WestBow Press).

In their book, the Silveys describe the four basic stages of development in spiritual maturity: self-observer; other-person perspective; consequential thinking; and alternative thinking. They also present readers with what they call “Boundaries of Growth Circles,” which describe what holds people back from becoming more Christ-like individuals.

“Individuals will know when they are stuck and struggling in relationships,” Bev Silvey says. “Most individuals do not want to remain stuck and unhappy; they just may not know how to get unstuck. Sometimes the familiar path of old patterns is simply easier than the work it takes to confront one’s own self and the unhealthy boundaries we have created.”

“Maturing in Christ” has evaluation questions after each section, where readers can monitor their progress and explore the steps they still need to take as they seek God’s will for their lives and continue growing in spiritual maturity.
