Music Video Contest at UNICEF's Unite Against AIDS Concert Precedes Performances by Avril Lavigne, Sarah McLachlan, and John Mayer

www.IndieMV.com, a unique social networking site for the indie music community, held its first-ever music video contest at UNICEF's star-studded "Unite Against AIDS" concert in Montreal where Avril Lavigne, Sarah McLachlan, and John Mayer performed.

Los Angeles, CA and NY (PRWEB) December 4, 2007 -- Trophy, a Toronto-based rock band, took top honors at the first-ever music video contest sponsored by IndieMV.com and held at UNICEF's star-studded "Unite Against AIDS" concert in Montreal where Avril Lavigne, Sarah McLachlan, and John Mayer performed. IndieMV.com, a unique social networking site for the independent music community that lets music lovers connect with great indie artists and music, teamed with UNICEF on the "Unite Against AIDS Video Contest" to help spread AIDS awareness by empowering indie music artists to produce videos that depict the impact that HIV and AIDS is having on children around the world.

Trophy, the aptly named winner of the video contest, heard about the competition from a friend and made a profile on the www.IndieMV.com site, which enables indie artists to upload videos and connect with fans, and offers music lovers the opportunity to interact with the music and people they want. After creating their profile, the band donated their song "Toast For The Day" to the contest and asked their fans and friends for voter support. Within weeks, bass guitarist Peter Fusco learned that Trophy had been selected as a finalist to go to Montreal.

Before concert performances by Avril Lavigne, Sarah McLachlan, and John Mayer, the band performed a five-song set that wowed the crowd. Lead singer Kirt Godwin couldn't believe the incredible reception the band received. "The audience got into it more and more with each song, but it wasn't until the last song that we could see the full effect. I asked the audience to clap along to 'Stay the Course' and the crew put the house lights up. We were completely blown away to see a sea of smiling faces, clapping along. We could have played all night."

"IndieMV.com provided us with not only a great opportunity to play for people who may never have heard of Trophy, but it also allowed us to put our support behind such an important cause," commented Peter Fusco.

The band, whose profile, songs, and video can be found on the IndieMV.com site, will not get much rest in between performances, as it steps off the star-studded stage in Montreal's Bell Centre to play at tomorrow's club opening at Toronto's Tattoo Rock Bar. The December 5 show, which features Dita Von Teese, marks the band's final live performance in 2007 before a planned Spring tour.

IndieMV.com President and CEO, Ricardo Khayatte, added, "This contest was a success for UNICEF, Trophy, and IndieMV.com. We look forward to continuing our relationship with UNICEF and fostering partnerships with other worthwhile organizations."
