BEAT100 is proud to introduce the winners of the April 22nd Cover Music Video Chart. Shane Board placed first this month, receiving over 14,000 views on his cover of Sinatra’s famous track, ‘My Way’, while Frankee placed second with her cover of ‘Skinny Love’ by Birdy. Guitarist and singer, Alex Gruber, achieved third place with over 7,000 views of his live performance covering Taio Cruz’ famous song, ‘Dynamite’.
First place winner, Shane Board, has quickly become a BEAT100 sensation as a result of his quality cover and original videos featured on the social music video site. In listening to his music and reviewing his BEAT100 profile, it’s apparent that, not only is Shane passionate about his music, but also the good cause he represents. After diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes as a child, Shane went on to establish the Pop4Diabities foundation, a non-profit that raises money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and other similar beneficiaries. As a cure for Type 1 Diabetes is within reach, Shane generously donates all the money he earns from his music to support the cause.
In his recent first place video submitted to BEAT100, Shane is seen performing at his annual charity ball, an event in its seventh successful year and devoted completely to raising awareness and funds for Pop4Diabities. In the video, Shane performs for a large sell-out audience, including British soap opera, X Factor, and Britain’s Got Talent celebrities all in support of his outstanding cause. In addition to covering ‘My Way’, Shane also has released many original songs with the help of award-winning British producer and songwriter, Simon Ellis. As Sony recently agreed to manufacture Shane’s next three CDs, Simon and Shane are teaming up to produce many exciting releases in the near future.
As he continues to achieve increased success, Shane says: “For me, it’s not about fame as much as it is about keeping my profile as high as possible so I can use my experience when speaking to other young people who may be struggling with Diabetes. If I can do it, so can they!” In addition to his success as a musician and non-profit founder, Shane manages his own business as a web designer while also working as an actor, even starring in a recent BBC 2 drama and playing the role as a double in Harry Potter.
Placing second in the BEAT100 Cover Chart this month, 11-year-old singer Frankee achieved over 6,000 views with her outstanding cover of ‘Skinny Love’ by Birdy. Originating from French and Filipino ethnicity, Frankee says that she began singing at a young age, as music is a major part of her Filipino roots, as well as her upbringing. Growing up in a family filled with musicians, including a mother who was performing piano for audiences even while pregnant with Frankee, this young and talented singer won her first major singing competition at the age of seven in front of a television audience of over five million viewers. This experience opened up many doors for her as she now pursues music full-time and aspires to become a professional singer, performing both opera and pop. “I’ve always considered the studio to be my second home and the stage to be my playground,” says Frankee. “I constantly perform with professional artists locally and internationally and, most of all, now that I am 11 years old, it keeps the stage open for me to do what I love… sing!”
In third place on the charts, German-based singer and guitarist, Alex Gruber, provides an energetic and highly enjoyable performance of, ‘Dynamite’. Singing the familiar lyrics of the tune, but with his own spin, Alex performs for an enthusiastic audience in his live cover video as fans accompany. With a repertoire of over 200 songs, including tracks from Eric Clapton, the Doors, and AC/DC, as well as Lady Gaga and Adele, Alex performs solo gigs all over Europe and loves entertaining audiences. As he covers each song with his own original style, Alex plans to continue performing and hopes to release his own CD someday soon while collaborating with other artists, including musicians he’s met on BEAT100. In addition, after a recently successful meeting with some of the musicians he’s connected with on BEAT100, Alex is currently planning a gathering in the summer with all of his BEAT100 friends.
The team at BEAT100 congratulates Shane Board, Frankee, and Alex Gruber for their successful ranking in the April 22 BEAT100 Cover Music Video Chart. Musicians and music-lovers alike can sign up free for BEAT100, in order to upload their cover or original music video to the BEAT100 charts.
