The BEAT100 community congratulates winners of the May 27th BEAT100 Original Music Video Chart compilation. Configa, the popular UK hip-hop producer, placed first, achieving his second original music video chart win for his outstanding original track titled ‘Back 2 Basics’, featuring John Graham. Shane Board achieved second this month following his recent first place win in the BEAT100 Cover Music Video Chart, receiving over 15,000 views on the music video for his original track, ‘Tell Me Now’. Finally, Romanian-based singer John Diamond placed third with his release of ‘Let’s Get High’, an upbeat dance anthem that received over 14,000 views.
Following his win in the BEAT100 Original Music Video Chart last month for his popular track, ‘We On Fire’, featuring Jaz Kahina, Configa has quickly become a BEAT100 sensation, as his music provides listeners with authentic and original hip-hop tracks that hold true to the genre’s roots. In his recent BEAT100 win with ‘Back 2 Basics’, Configa promotes his passion for “hip-hop preservationism” as collaborating artist John Graham raps about the changes within the industry and encourages hip-hop artists to better reflect on the industry’s roots and their music’s message. The track features Configa’s magnificent talent for sampling and production accompanied by Graham’s brilliant rhymes and lyrics, resulting in a sound that many might agree, best represent “the way hip-hop should sound”.
Beginning his music career in 2000 as a battle rapper under the alias ‘Unique’, Configa has quickly risen to the top within the UK hip-hop industry while attracting a worldwide audience from his many outstanding album releases. His successful career includes collaborations with his award winning hip-hop crew ‘Slept on Fam’, including Configa, Wargasms, Arsenal and C-Gully, (‘Slept on Fam’ beat out Three 6 Mafia for ‘Group of the Year’ from the annual ‘Get ‘Em Magazine’ Awards in Florida in 2007) and numerous solo album releases, including a critically acclaimed 2Pac remix CD, as well as ‘Configaration’, a popular 20 track album featuring an array of outstanding productions from this skilled artist, including ‘We on Fire’ and ‘Back 2 Basics’, available for purchase on iTunes. Shane Board, second-time winner in the BEAT100 charts, received second place in the BEAT100 Original Music Video chart this month for his release of ‘Tell Me Now’. Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes as a child, Shane made it his goal to use his talent in music as a means to increase awareness about Diabetes while raising money for its cure. Every dollar Shane Board earns from his performances, album sales, and annual charity ball is generously donated to his non-profit, Pop4Diabities. ‘Tell Me Now’ is Shane’s first music video produced four years ago for the organization. The award earned from his BEAT100 win will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and other similar beneficiaries.
‘Tell Me Now’ demonstrates Shane’s ability to provide fans with a passionate and heartfelt performance, as the singer and songwriter continues to acquire increased success for his talent and meaningful cause. Shane is currently collaborating with Simon Ellis, an award-winning British producer on three future original albums set for release on Shane’s own label, ‘Cracking Pop Records’. Shane is set to release his newest original in June that he will premiere with a children’s choir during National Diabetes week on Bournemouth Pier, one of the UK’s most famous seaside piers. Despite his success, Shane says “For me, it’s not about the fame as much as it is about keeping my profile as high as possible so I can use my experience when speaking to other young people who may be struggling with Diabetes. If I can do it, so can they!” In addition to his career as a musician, Shane is also a web designer and manages his own web design business.
