Ex’treme Institute by Nelly – St. Louis, the innovative recording and music school located in the heart of Laclede’s Landing, is offering week long interactive classes to St. Louis area youngsters, ages 12 through 16, in music composition and production throughout the month of March. Classes are held at the ex’treme Institute by Nelly located at 800 North 3rd Street, in Downtown St. Louis.
At Ex’treme Institute by Nelly students work alongside music industry veterans, including artists, producers and engineers while gaining real-world experience. This hands-on, age appropriate class, called “Beat Camp for Kids,” is held every week during March (March 4-8, March 11-15, March 18-22, March 25-29) from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and runs $225 per student. The class teaches a variety of skills, ranging from choosing the right drum beat pattern to adding various sound effects. Students are taught the very basics of music composition and gradually develop a working knowledge of song construction and mixing.
