New York, NY (PRWEB) July 17, 2006 -- City Canyons Records pulls out all the stops for its 14th City Canyons Showcase tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at Manhattan's Red Lion, bringing in the fabulous Alrights all the way from Minnesota playing material from their upcoming City Canyons Record's release High school, offering the lovely and lilting Sara Wendt with songs from her acclaimed City Canyons' EP, here's US and serving up the upstate Kings of Rock, The Velmas, who will perform terrific tunes from their as yet untitled album to be released this fall under the City Canyons imprint. Put this all together--and add very special guests James Alexander, Sarah Loveland and the Knot Watkins Invitational Blues Jam--and it's clear Tuesday, July 18th shapes up as an evening of entertainment to be remembered.
First to perform at 7 p.m sharp is the Knot Watkins Invitational Blues Jam offering some of the best blues artists in the region strutting their stuff. This blues feast is followed by a set from James Alexander, a talented duo from Connecticut who bring their catchy but thoughtful melodies to the Red Lion for the first time.
Next up are the remarkable Velmas down from Albany performing shimmering pop rock with a serious alternative edge. Following them are the immensely gifted Alrights with songs varying in style from soulful funk to straightforward cutting edge rock and much in between.
On stage after the Alrights, comes the always-popular Sara Wendt presenting music for your dreams, evocative alternative pop that still rocks. Last but not least is mult-talented Sarah Loveland performing (on a variety of instruments) her new solo material blending winning elements of folk and pop.
This monthly Showcase at the Red Lion by City Canyons Records -- the exciting independent label based in downtown Manhattan -- has become one of New York's most popular and prestigious ongoing showcases for independent music, featuring the top indie artists in New York and internationally.
