Skyla Rayne is a talented, 11-year-old, singer-songwriter who has already begun her journey to success in the music industry. The Adele influenced songwriter has been writing since the young age of 5 years old, and has a passion for writing lyrics and melodies, with the accompaniment of her piano. “I was born with the music inside me and have been trying to get it out my whole life,” says Skyla. “I love to sing from the soul and I feel the music.” Skyla is proving to be way beyond her years and has written several songs, mostly based on the emotions and feelings she sees others experiencing. Her voice appears to have that same raw emotive feel as ex-Disney star, Demi Lovato, and holds the song writing skill of a professional. Skyla has been performing on stage since the age of three, when she was cast in “Traditions of Christmas”, along with her father through the Christian Community Theatre. She also recently played the lead role of “Emily” at Legoland California for a season in 2011 and performed on stage along with an actor from the Nickelodeon show, “iCarly”.
The young pop-sensation uploaded her original song, “Butterfly”, into the BEAT100 Music Video Chart and managed to reach the 22nd spot in just five days. Rayne’s original song received three BEAT100 Music Video Awards for her well-written original song, high quality video and the BEAT100 Favourite Music Video Award, given by a member of the BEAT100 Team. Skyla’s pop track, “Butterfly”, was produced by Alex Cantrell, who also produced JoJo’s famous track, “Get Out (Leave)”, along with many others. Although Skyla has enjoyed producing pop tracks with Cantrell, her main focus for the future would be to write more serious music in a similar style to artists, such as, Alicia Keys and Christina Aguilera. However, she feels that pop songs are more relevant to her age and her target market right now so will continue to promote her tracks, “Butterfly” and “The Voice”.
Although Skyla has a passion for music, she is also very focused on acting and performing. “I would love to be an actress on TV channels, such as Disney or Nickelodeon,” says Rayne. “I want to be like Victoria Justice or Ariana Grande, at least whilst I’m still a kid.” The young triple threat displays some of her acting ability in her official video for “Butterfly”, and will soon be filming the short movie, “The Brownie” as the role of ‘Raquel’. Skyla has also been cast for an anti-bullying film called “You Think You Know Me”, in which her song “Butterfly” will be used. Rayne currently attends a performing arts school where she concentrates on improving her performance, acting and singing skills. Due to this, all the actors in her video were chosen from her fellow pupils. Skyla's song has been played in other local schools in order to promote anti-bullying, and she continues to support the cause.
