My Treat launches its homepage today for early signups for its upcoming iPhone app that lets users meet people by offering to treat others to coffee, lunch, a movie, and more as a new way to network, make friends, or even date. In addition to offering to treat someone users can request to be treated.
Once launched My Treat allows users to post treat offers or treat requests. An offer includes where and what a user would like to treat someone to as well as why. For example:
Treat requests are the opposite where users request where and what they want to be treated to. Every offer and request posting is connected to a specific physical location. Nearby users can view and respond to posts they are interested in.
My Treat co-founder, Ben Tao said "The concept is simple - tell people what you want or are willing to offer, connect with them, and then go meet them. The entire process takes place on your mobile phone. Since 'treats' are tied to a location we've taken out the guesswork about where to meet. And if a person is offering to treat, you even know who's picking up the tab. We aren't trying to replace social networking sites or dating sites, but instead offer a simple and more convenient method of meeting new people."
My Treat is launching soon. Visit http://mytre.at to sign up to get notified when the app officially launches. It’s my treat when we meet!
