Oregon Company Tries “Insane” Tactics to Get New Web Traffic

In fact some people may even think this is insane.

To succeed in today's business world, having a web presence is essential. A good website can spread the word about innovative products, attract customers, and help increase profits. With that in mind, many companies are turning to corporate blogging to communicate their messages. However, with thousands of blogs being launched daily, it can be difficult to drive traffic to a new corporate blog. Faced with this problem, one Oregon company is trying something out of the ordinary to get noticed.

MyBinding.com an Oregon-based Internet retailer of document finishing products recently unveiled its new blog, complete with new graphics and a wealth of fresh content. In fact, there's so much new content, the company is posting one new blog entry every hour of every day until June 23, 2010. The posting started on Monday, April 10 and you can see the posts at MyBindingBlog.com.

“What we're doing is totally original,” said Jeff McRitchie, Director of Marketing for MyBinding.com. “We're going to publish a total of 1,728 posts. That's a lot. In fact some people may even think this is insane.”

To supply the blog with so much content, the company employs two staff writers who have been frantically producing reviews of the company's wares which include binding machines, paper shredders, and laminators. They also contribute articles about topics such as selecting the right laminating pouches and maintaining paper shredders. McRitchie said the writers are more than capable of producing at least one piece of writing per hour. As for why the company is doing this, it's simple: they want to see how the massive posting affects their search engine ranking results and if it drives more traffic to their main website located at MyBinding.com.

“In today's economy, visibility is important, but so is serving your customers", McRitchie said. “We have a lot of great content that can benefit them and we want to have a bank of knowledge that our customers can easily access.”

As for whether the company is insane for doing this, McRitchie said that's in the eye of the beholder.

“We just want to improve our visibility and do the best for our customers. We may be going about it in a crazy way, but the reasons behind it aren't crazy at all.”

MyBinding.com is located in Hillsboro, Oregon a suburb of Portland. It is a division of Information Management Services, Inc. which has been in the document finishing business for more than 10 years. The company offers one of the largest selections of binding machines, laminators, and paper shredders on the Internet.
