The American Cancer Society held their annual Relay for Life event on the campus of University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) on Friday, April 27, 2012. The Relay for Life doubled and nearly tripled their fundraising goal this year with a total of $38,498. MyWay Mobile Storage was honored to support the Baltimore Relay for Life and donated a storage container to assist with event coordination.

“Our thanks to MyWay Mobile Storage for donating the storage container to the Relay for Life of UMBC,” said Jenna Glatfelter, the American Cancer Society’s event coordinator. “It was so easy for us to load our materials the night before and limit the amount of trips we needed to take. We used the container to store all of our extra materials throughout the event and to keep us organized.”

The Relay for Life began at 6 p.m., with the setting sun signifying the coming of cancer. Volunteers and supporters walk and run throughout the night because, according to Erin Butler, President of Relay for Life at UMBC, "Cancer doesn't sleep and neither should we." The rising sun the next morning represents the dawn of hope. The portable storage container from MyWay Mobile Storage helped create a haven throughout the night.

“The container not only shielded our materials from the weather (heavy winds), but it allowed us to keep valuable items in a safe environment,” said Glatfelter. “We are so thankful for the generosity of MyWay Mobile Storage and will definitely be using them in the future!”

In addition to the Relay for Life event held at UMBC, MyWay Mobile Storage is donating three of their portable storage units for the fourth consecutive year to the Arnold/Annapolis Relay for Life. The event is being held on Friday, May 18, 2012 at the Anne Arundel Fairgrounds in Crownsville, Maryland and also at the Relay CCBC in Catonsville on June 9-10, 2012.
