Nannypalooza, a 2 day professional conference for nannies, will take place Nov 5th and 6th, 2011 in Ellicott City, MD. This event provides nannies, who often work unsupervised and isolated, a chance to attend workshops on a wide variety of topics such as sleep training, the importance of play and effective discipline.

Nanny care is an attractive option for parents, who find that one on one personal care in their own home provides a stable and loving environment for their children. But there are currently no credential or licensing within the industry. Nannypalooza was founded in 2006 with the goal of providing affordable, quality training for nannies in order to raise the bar of quality in home care.

Nannypalooza 2011 will be held in Ellicott City, MD on Nov. 5th and 6th. Workshops are held covering all areas of child care as well as professional concerns. Millions of children are trusted to nannies every day. It is crucial that these caregivers have a high level of expertise and that they can handle a wide variety of situations as they have little or no supervision and are entrusted with all ages of children. Nannypalooza is one affordable way for a nanny to garner new skills and stay current on trends and research of early childhood development.

Conference organizer and co founder, Sue Downey stresses the importance of professional development for nannies. “So many working parents depend on their nannies to provide excellent care for their children. But new research can affect child care a great deal. In fact, just this year there have been developments in sleep training, car seat safety and so much more. Nannies who continue their education bring the best and newest information to their families and provide the best care. And that is everyone’s goal.”
