The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Lyn Stafford as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in business. NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating Local Chapters.

“I’m pleased to welcome Lyn into this exceptional group of professional women,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “She is a great example of how education and passion can lead to new pathways to success.”

Lyn Stafford has always had a passion for writing. As a child, she devoured everything on the bookshelves from poetry to fiction to news. Later in life, she worked at Birmingham Publishing Company, where she embarked on her writing and editing career.

Ms. Stafford obtained her Master’s degree at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She worked at the Medical School’s Alabama Journal of Medical Sciences, then overseas for the Annals of Saudi Medicine and finally, for the Southern Medical Journal.

She lives in Seagrove Beach, FL where she is a semi-retired Realtor with Andrews & Arnsdorff. Now, she says, she can focus once again on writing. She publishes under the name Eastern Lake Books and has just released her first book, "The Road to Margaret", a history of a small coal mining town named Margaret. The stories follow two families—one black and one white—from the Civil War through the Civil Rights era.

In Birmingham, she is part of UAB’s New Horizons, Alabama Arise, the UU Church, an AAUW book group and the Red Mountain Mahjong players. In Florida, she enjoys her discussion group, the First Monday Salon, and several others including a women’s study group, a meditation and a bridge group.
