National Association of Professional Women Announces Adele K. Langworthy, Executive Director of Rising TIDE @ MKEC, a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year

Adele K. Langworthy is recognized as an NAPW VIP Woman of the Year for her outstanding leadership and commitment within her profession.

NAPW honors Adele K. Langworthy, Executive Director of Rising TIDE @ MKEC, as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Langworthy is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in pastoral work. As the largest, most-recognized networking organization of professional women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 300 local chapters.

“My skills and areas of expertise include pastoral responsibilities and programmatic support,” says Adele Langworthy, who has been supporting the mission of Rising Tide @ MKEC for ten years. She has been directing its goals for empowering children and youth of low income, multicultural families of the greater Long Beach, CA, area through academic support, tutoring, mentoring, cultural enrichment, arts, sports, supervised recreation and other after-school programs.

Under Ms. Langworthy’s direction, Rising TIDE @ MKEC has become an oasis for many single and dual parent households in need of a safe and nurturing after-school environment for their children. She has made it her priority to provide the children and youth who come to Rising TIDE with such services as one-on-one help with homework and reading with a partner. The children are also provided with healthy snacks and are taught about making good choices and engaging in safe play with friends.

Ms. Langworthy is also an Associate Pastor at Covenant Presbyterian Church in the southern city of Long Beach, California. She received her Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from McCormick Theological Seminary and her undergraduate degree in Physics from Youngstown State University with an emphasis in Astrophysics.
