NAPW honors Jennifer Lauren Abraham as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Abraham is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in building and construction. As the largest, most-recognized networking organization of professional women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 300 Local Chapters.
“I grew up in a family where a business was operated and owned by my father out of the basement of our home. I learned from an early age from both of my parents that hard work, perseverance and the spearheading of an opportunity when it presented itself was the algorithm to creating a strong, successful business,” says Ms. Abraham, President of A.B. Steel, Inc.
It was in 2012 when Ms. Abraham first saw such an opportunity. After recognizing an opening in the iron working industry in the Lehigh Valley, she established A.B. Steel, Inc., confident the skills and knowledge she had gathered for the past seven years, as well as the invaluable contacts she had made in the industry, would provide a solid foundation for her business. As President, Ms. Abraham uses her business management and interpersonal skills to manage the day-to-day operations of the company including assessment of ongoing projects, scheduling of workers, site visits, contract negotiations, estimation, bidding, payroll, benefits, accounts payable and receivable, union relations, safety and insurance management and all aspects of HR.
Aware of the importance of establishing herself as a leader in the industry and keeping up with the most relevant changes, Ms. Abraham completed the iron workers contractors college, as well as certification in multiple areas including OSHA. She is committed to keeping up with the fast-paced industry changes and is focused on continuing to grow A.B. Steel, Inc. by taking on larger and newer opportunities.
NAPW’s mission is to provide an exclusive networking forum to successful professional women where they can aspire, connect and achieve. Through innovative resources, unique tools and progressive benefits, members interact, exchange ideas, advance their knowledge and empower each other.
