The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Veronica Carrera as a 2015-2016 inductee into the NAPW VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in manufacturing. With more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating Local Chapters, NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women.
“I’m pleased to welcome Veronica into this exceptional group of professional women,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “She is a great example of how education and passion can lead to new pathways to success.”
From a young age, Veronica Carrera knew she wanted to be an engineer. Encouraged by her mother and aunt, Ms. Carrera enrolled in a technical career program that her high school offered in Mexico. Instantly falling in love with computers, she chose computer systems engineering as her next step.
Ms. Carrera is currently the Software Team Leader at Nexans Autoelectric of America. Her responsibilities include, but are not limited to, reviewing software development requirements, supervising a team of programmers and keeping track of the software development projects to ensure that they satisfy the needs of customers on time and within budget.
The most valuable skill Ms. Carrera uses is the ability to interpret what customers need for a usable piece of software. Working in a multicultural environment and being bilingual herself, Ms. Carrera understands that people from different backgrounds, cultures and languages express their needs differently and she translates that into actual requirements and workable tasks.
Ms. Carrera enjoys all areas of the company and the people she works with. The most rewarding part of her job is to solve complex problems and streamline processes to make the user’s lives easier. She hopes to see Nexans Autoelectric of America grow into a successful, worldwide company.
NAPW’s mission is to provide an exclusive, highly advanced networking forum to successful women executives, professionals and entrepreneurs where they can aspire, connect and achieve. Through innovative resources, unique tools and progressive benefits, professional women interact, exchange ideas, advance their knowledge and empower each other.
