NAPW honors Irina Agoulnik, Ph.D., as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Dr. Agoulnik is recognized with this prestigious distinction for her leadership in healthcare research management. As the largest organization of women in the country, the National Association of Professional Women is a vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 300 Local Chapters.
“I’ve been involved in research for drug target identification and healthcare research advancement for over 20 cumulative years,” says Dr. Agoulnik, Co-Founder, CEO and President of VESTI Intelligence Corp. “Many things changed since my first job. Clearly, research is driven by information and the amount of information is exponentially growing with every year. The identification and selection of necessary evidence for one’s research on a job demands additional time and training as many more applications are being developed with different user interfaces and protocols.”
The goal of VESTI is to offer physicians and drug development researchers a simple solution to the often complicated process of gathering information from thousands of clinical trials worldwide, as well as from patents, multi-national publications and related conference abstracts: a single portal for the many databases relevant for clinical trials with reporting systems ready for sharing with colleagues. VESTI will offer this exclusive service on both desktop and mobile devices.
Dr. Agoulnik was born in Almaty, the former capital of Kazakhstan. Both parents were scientists and she grew up “surrounded by discussions about physics, astronomy and biochemistry. Inspired by them and other “fascinating people” in her life, Dr. Agoulnik pursued a career in science. She brings to VESTI a wealth of experience that she garnered during her work managing multi-disciplinary biomedical research at institutions affiliated with Harvard Medical School and cross-functional research initiatives at Millennium Pharmaceuticals.
A major turning point in her career occurred while working at PanGenX. As Sr. Director of Operations, she oversaw business operations of the startup company. Participation in that endeavor ignited in her a passion to take on the challenge of her own startup. “VESTI may revolutionize the decision-making process for clinicians and drug development professionals.”
