Vivien P. Woofter selected for her outstanding leadership and commitment within her profession

The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Vivien P. Woofter as a 2015-2016 inductee into its VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in business. NAPW is the nation's leading networking organization exclusively for professional women, boasting more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating Local Chapters.

“I'm pleased to recognize Vivien with this important honor,” says NAPW President Star Jones. “Her perseverance, work ethic and leadership qualities are an inspiration to all women.”

After retiring as Director of Interior Design for the overseas Building Operations of the U.S. Department of State on a Friday in 2004, Vivien Woofter began working as its Historic Conservation Advisor on the following Monday.

“I loved designing rooms ever since I could remember,” said Ms. Woofter, whose extensive background in interior design has made her a respected presence in the nation’s capital for more than two decades. In addition to her interior design talents, she excels in project management, historic preservation and restoration.

Ms. Woofter’s biggest career challenge is making others understand how important it is to appreciate and properly take care of our country’s priceless objects as well as those from abroad. The most rewarding part of her career has been the opportunity to meet and work with many of the world’s outstanding artisans who depend on her for her expertise and guidance. Ms. Woofter's future goal is to establish and fully staff the cultural heritage program and its endowment, “The Fund to Conserve U.S. Diplomatic Treasures Abroad.”
