It gives me great pleasure to present Susan with this important honor. She used her expertise to build a successful business enterprise.

The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) honors Susan Murphy as a 2015-2016 inductee into the NAPW VIP Woman of the Year Circle. She is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in business. With more than 700,000 members and over 200 operating local chapters, NAPW is the nation’s leading networking organization exclusively for professional women.

“It gives me great pleasure to present Susan with this important honor,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “She used her expertise to build a successful business enterprise.”

Susan Murphy has always had a strong desire to help people. After watching her parents thrive in careers where they were able to serve others—her father, a veteran of WWII, worked for employment services and her mother served as a nurse—Ms. Murphy has been influenced to do the same. While raising her four children, she worked as a high school music teacher. After her children reached school age, Ms. Murphy returned to graduate school to obtain a Master’s in Counseling and completed post-graduate work for her licensure as an LPC. Working as a private therapist and psychotherapist diplomat for many years, she now incorporates psychology into her company, Murphy Media.

For the past three years at Murphy Media, Ms. Murphy has helped her clients better understand their customers in order to make their marketing campaigns more robust. Incorporating her psychology background into her business techniques, she is able to work with an individual in a therapeutic approach and bring more awareness that will help them build his or her business.

“I’ve spent my life teaching people how to use their voices to communicate and interact with the world in order to make it a better place,” she said.

Despite the challenges of having a business of her own, Ms. Murphy continues to strive to grow her company and create a marketing powerhouse. Never losing sight of the positive impact her parents had on others through their hard work and perseverance, her goals are to continue to serve others and to try to make the world a better place.
