NAPW Milwaukee WI Chapter held a networking meeting on October 5th, 2011. The meeting was held at Sheraton Milwaukee Brookfield Hotel in Brookfield WI, starting at 5:30 pm.
Members present included Robyn Olszowy – President of NAPW Milwaukee, WI and Creative Consultant; Sheila Barnhart – Executive Manager – Send Out Cards; Dawn Drellos-Thompson – Attorney – Pellmann, Drellos and Associates, SC; Angie Flannery – Assistant Director – Community Adoption Center; Joanne Kaminski – Reading Specialist – Online Tutoring International; Sheri Weaver – Administration & Quality Supervisor, HNI Risk Services.
Members and guest gathered, signed in, placed their dinner orders and did a bit of chatting and networking.
The chapter welcomed Angie Flannery to her first meeting and presented her with the NAPW Notebook and Membership Pin. Angie shared a bit about herself and the Community Adoption Center.
Sheri Weaver agreed to do a presentation on Social Media for the group next year.
Options for meeting places for next year were discussed. Since not everyone can make all the meetings, the group felt that it would not be the best to accept meeting at someone’s work place where that person would have to be present to let us into the building. This topic was tabled until the November meeting.
The chapter’s next meeting will be November 2nd and will have a presentation by a representative of Sojourner’s. The December meeting will be December 7th and will be a Holiday Party. Each member will bring items for the Sojourner Peace Center.
Joanne Kaminski did a presentation of her business and the chapter held a mini book party. It was agreed that the hostess benefits and free books earned from the chapter’s orders would be donated to Sojourner’s.
"Joanne did a fantastic job teaching the chapter about all the different ways people read and what books would be best for them. It was a very informative presentation," Robyn said.
Since a representative of Sojourner’s will be at the November meeting to discuss what Sojourner’s does, the chapter will present them with all the free books at that meeting. They will also be advising on what things they could use. Everyone was asked to bring what they feel they can afford from the list for the December Party meeting. These items will be donated to Sojourner’s to help them in their work.
A group photo was taken by Robyn before everyone departed and she thanked those who sent an RSVP.
