A professional networking meeting of the National Association of Professional Women Waldorf Local Chapter was held at the ABC Wellness & Fitness Center in Waldorf, Maryland, on January 17, 2012. The meeting convened at 6:45 pm. Members in attendance included Tammy L.S. Wright, President, and Sekema Rhodes, Communications Coordinator. President Tammy Wright emphasized her hope that attendance would increase as well as memberships over the upcoming months. She expressed her desire to have a more active presence in the Waldorf community as well.
Chapter meetings will remain at the ABC Wellness & Fitness Center until further notice. Tammy reminded the Chapter that NAPW shirts still need to be selected and purchased to be worn at activities. The Local Chapter’s Facebook page is not official as of yet but is a Chapter objective for the upcoming months.
Chapter members will come up with and agree on a theme for the 2012 year.

A tentative calendar of events was discussed with activities to include a February visit to the Open Door Shelter in Washington DC, a March Fitness Demo at ABC Wellness and Fitness Center, a spa retreat in April, a ‘Best Buddies Walk’ and’ March for Babies’ in Waldorf in May, car washes in June and August to support a cause, a Cancer Awareness Gala in October, Thanksgiving baskets in November, and an ‘Angel Tree Coats and Clothing Drive’ in December.
Tammy handed out a flyer titled “Next Steps” and encouraged the group to support the cause to make Maryland the next state to repeal the death penalty, January 11 through April 9, 2012.
Tammy also announced a meeting reminder. “The NAPW Waldorf Local Chapter meets every third Tuesday of the month at 6:30pm at ABC Wellness & Fitness, located in Waldorf, Maryland,” she said.
The location is subject to changed based on planned activities. The meeting was adjourned at 7:30pm. The next meeting is scheduled for February 21, 2012 at 6:30pm. The minutes were taken by Sekema Rhodes, Communications Coordinator.
The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) is the largest and most recognized network of female professionals.
