Members of the NAPW Delaware County, PA Local Chapter gathered on January 17th for a professional networking meeting at Glenolden Library in Glenolden. Chapter President DeAnne Lonnquist led the group of professional women in putting plans in motion and setting new goals for the Chapter in 2013.
“We have a lot that we want to accomplish this year!” said the Chapter President after welcoming members to the meeting with her normal enthusiasm.
DeAnne discussed the ‘Couponing Workshop’ she has agreed to do for the Chapter. It was determined that the event will be held on a Saturday in April. NAPW members will be invited, as well as guests from the surrounding community. The Delaware County Chapter Vice President of Events/Membership and the Chapter Event Coordinator will get together with DeAnne to plan the event. In addition to the workshop, the members discussed having raffles or door prizes that could be for free services or gift packages. Chapter member Pam Scott has volunteered to create flyers and other promotional materials as needed to promote the event.
Member Katrina Brittingham took the floor to discuss the launch of her new business, VentureReady. “VentureReady equips job seekers with all they need to get an interview, present a professional presentation during the interview, and effectively follow-up with the hiring manager after the interview,” said DeAnne.

Chapter members also discussed the ‘Professional Nuggets’ project. It was determined that this will not be limited to nuggets only related to the professional environment, but also general inspirational nuggets that could relate to work and/or life. It was also decided that the Chapter will execute both an offline and online version of this project, with more details to be discussed at the February meeting. “We need to continue to grow our ‘library’ of nuggets. Remember, professional nuggets can be a favorite inspirational quote, words to ‘live by,’ a website that helped you in a personal or professional way, an experience, anything that may help to motivate or inspire someone to better themselves. If in doubt, send it in. We can sort it out later,” said DeAnne.
The Chapter President will be sending out a link to a short survey for members to help clarify what members want to see and hear about over the next year, which charities or events they might want to participate in or host, and what the Delaware County Local Chapter wants to accomplish over the next year. DeAnne encouraged everyone to check their NAPW email frequently for the survey.
“The remainder of the meeting was dedicated to developing Chapter goals and ‘plan’ for the year. Members requested the responsibilities of the various Board Members be clarified and specific duties be defined so that we can move forward effectively to meet the goals we have set,” said DeAnne. “Board Members should be prepared to discuss their areas of responsibilities, as appropriate, at the February meeting.”
Defined responsibilities of Chapter Board Members are as follows: Vice President Veronica Pszoniak: Be a supportive leader and assist the President with planning and coordination of the Chapter; run Chapter meeting if President is unable to attend; and coordinate with subcommittees and report to the President.
Treasurer Rocquel Y. Neale: Collect funds raised by the Chapter; maintain funds in agreed upon location and ensure funds available for use by the Chapter; and make payments to speakers, vendors, or any resources used for non-meeting events.
Secretary Pamela Scott: Record meeting minutes and submit to the President for review before posting and record happenings at Chapter events.
Vice President of Events/Membership Carol Dalessio: Create and manage Chapter Events Calendar; develop and present ideas for events to build membership camaraderie, grow membership, and community outreach (i.e., mixers, sporting events, membership drives, presentations, informational seminars, and couponing seminar); and plan and coordinate all non-charity events (co-joint and single-run).
Events Coordinator Susan Zambon: This is a newly added position; responsibilities include support Vice President of Events in area of event planning; coordinate and secure locations for Chapter meetings; develop ideas for events to build membership camaraderie, grow membership, and community outreach (i.e., mixers, sporting events, membership drives, presentations, informational seminars, and couponing seminar); and supply/coordinate refreshments for Chapter meetings.
Membership Coordinator Pam Scott: This is a newly added position; responsibilities include: support Vice President of Events in area of membership growth; develop ideas for marketing of the Delco Chapter to grow membership base and encourage more active participation by current members; and plan and execute all marketing efforts.
Events Committee Photographer Melinda Fern: Support Vice President of Events in area of event planning and serve as official Photographer of Chapter events and activities.
Events Committee Member Veronica Pszoniak: Support Vice President of Events in the area of event planning and develop ideas for events to build membership camaraderie, grow membership, and community outreach (i.e., mixers, sporting events, membership drives, presentations, informational seminars, and couponing seminar).
Charity Chairman Naketa Thigpen: Manage all Chapter charity activities; make recommendations for charities to support; and plan and coordinate all charity events.
Charity Committee Member Katrina Brittingham: Support Charity Chairman; make recommendations for charities to support; and plan and coordinate charity events.
SMG (Social Media Guru) Committee Coordinator Kelli Wallace: Update and maintain all social media platforms for the Chapter including Facebook, Twitter, NAPW Chapter Page, NAPW Press Releases, and LinkedIn; develop and implement plans to grow Chapter’s online presence; and post at least once per week (i.e., events, announcements, positive thoughts, inspirational quotes, relevant articles, and member business profiles).
SMG Committee Member: Assist the SMG Coordinator in maintaining all social media platforms; provide backup technical assistance; and provide feedback and suggestions to guide the growth of the Chapter’s online presence.
There is one remaining Board position open, which will be filled at a later date:
Historian: Record and archive events, speakers, and exciting happenings of the Chapter and create press releases, announcements, or other content and work with Social Media Guru to promote the events in social media.
