National Association of Professional Woman Announces Andrea D. Serna, Ed.D. Online Coordinator at National American University, as VIP Woman of the Year

Andrea D. Serna is recognized as an NAPW VIP Woman of the Year for her outstanding leadership and commitment within her profession.

I like that my membership in NAPW helps me make connections and develop relationships, which is exactly what I find most rewarding about working in education.

Andrea D. Serna, Ed.D., is an Online Program Coordinator at National American University. Ms. Serna has attained the highest level of membership to the National Association of Professional Women as a VIP Woman of the Year and has been recognized for outstanding leadership and commitment within her profession.

Education has been a prime motivator for Dr. Serna. She views education as a gateway to elevate the consciousness of society and to make the world a better place. She has been serving in academia for over six years. Dr. Serna manages the day-to-day online operations of the general education department, organizational leadership program, medical staff services management program and the online medical assisting coursework, including the management of over 125 online faculty members as well as their classrooms.

What attracted Dr. Serna to become a member of NAPW was its mentorship program, so uncommon in other woman’s organizations. She loves the webinars that help to keep members on top of their game as well as the NAPW member discounts, which she considers a “wonderful” thing. "I like that my membership in NAPW helps me make connections and develop relationships, which is exactly what I find most rewarding about working in education," says Dr. Serna.

Dr. Serna is currently involved with a number of professional organizations, including the Business and Professional Women's Foundation and the American Association for Adult and Continuing Education. She also volunteers her time with a number of local organizations in her community. Dr. Serna continues her goal of helping empower, inspire and motivate people through education and support, with hopes of one day becoming a chief academic officer.
