Members and guests of the NAPW Marietta, GA Local Chapter gathered on March 30th for a professional networking meeting at the East Cobb Government Center in Marietta.

It was the Chapter’s official launch meeting, and the group of professional women enjoyed a morning of networking, getting to know one another, and making plans for the Chapter’s future.

“Published authors, an Olympic runner, and an international chemical engineer were among the many powerful members of the Local Marietta Chapter who attended our launch event,” said Kim Scofi, Marietta Local Chapter President.

As members and guests arrived at the event, the Chapter President asked that each member record her name on the attendance sheet.

Members received paraphernalia to take home and to use at future meetings.

“I am so excited to serve as the Chapter President and would like all members and guests to formally introduce themselves, their area of expertise, and how long they have been a member," Kim said to the group of professional women.

Dr. Paulette Burney agreed to assume the role as Marietta Chapter Secretary effective April 2013 and a request was made for a Social Media Director and Events Chair, both to be decided upon at upcoming meetings.

The Chapter President discussed benefits and noted the different resources that were available on the website. She briefly provided an overview on how to access information. Kim noted that she would conduct an upcoming meeting on how to properly use NAPW's online tools and services. Monthly Helpful Hints were added to the agenda.

At March’s meeting, Kim gave a brief overview on how members can clean up their profile.

Questionnaires confirmed that Saturday mornings were the best day to conduct the monthly Chapter meetings. The group will host events at different venues to give everyone a chance to enjoy the meeting in a different setting.

“Remember, guests are always welcome so please feel free to extend an invitation to anyone who would like to attend a Chapter meeting,” Kim said to attendees.

For additional information pertaining to the Chapter’s upcoming events, both members and guests were welcome to check the Marietta Chapter Page as well as its Facebook page.

Members in attendance were Joyce Mbeyella, Elaine Day, Dr. Paulette Burney, Dr. Abigal Wanyo, Anita Tuff, Arlene Vincent Maird, Joann Sampson, Yvonne Jackson, and Shawanda Lamons.
