Members and guests of the NAPW Western Slope, CO Local Chapter gathered on March 21st for a professional networking event at Traders Coffee and Tea at 2654 Patterson Road.

The group of professional women gathered at the “Handshake Meeting” to network, get to know one another, and support each other’s personal and professional career goals.

NAPW Western Slope Local Chapter President Cinde Waller, President and C.E.O. of TempOrthotics LLC, kicked off the meeting by welcoming members and guests to the event.

She discussed the Chapter’s Mission Statement, plans, and goals with attendees.

“The Western Slope Chapter’s Mission is to form a group of professional women, and enhance all our lives through networking, education, and a sharing of resources,” she said.

“Members expressed areas that they would like to receive education in such as business taxes and maximizing social media outlets.”

The Chapter President told the group that speakers who are experts in the field of social media sites such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Google+, and Facebook will be researched, contacted, and invited to present at a future Western Slope Chapter event.

Potential candidates for Chapter Cabinet positions were discussed as well.

Temporary appointees were chosen until a formal appointment is made for these positions.

Sharon Wilcox acted as pro-temp Secretary and was responsible for the meeting minutes.

Diana Alpert has volunteered to fill the position as pro-temp Vice President.

Members and guests were then invited to give a short elevator pitch to introduce their profession and line of work.

“It was decided that each person will have the opportunity to present her business and/or line of work to the group at a rate of one, fifteen-minute presentation per-meeting beginning in June,” said Cinde.

The group of professional women also decided that a business card notebook will be passed around at each meeting and each member is expected to keep her page filled with her personal business cards.

“Members are encouraged to take and distribute each other’s business cards in everyday life as the opportunity rises,” said the Chapter President.

“In this manner, we will support and help to promote business for the members within our group.”

Cinde announced that Cody Horton has contacted the NAPW Western Slope Chapter and has offered to be a guest speaker in May.

Cody is known as “The Matrix of Persuasion” and presents on the subject of Conversational Hypnosis. She gives insight into how to use the power of persuasion during conversation.

“She is said to be a “dynamic” speaker, so this is one meeting you won’t want to miss!” Cinde told the crowd. “This event will be updated upon confirmation.”

The NAPW Western Slope Chapter would like to thank the “anonymous” person who kindly bought coffees for all of the members and guests.

The next Chapter meeting is scheduled for April 17th, from 5:30 to 6:30pm, at Traders Coffee and Tea, 2654 Patterson Road, Grand Junction, CO.
