On August 25, 2012, Narconon Denmark staff, graduates, family, friends and supporters gathered at the residential center in Skellingsted to celebrate another year of saving lives. For over two decades, the Narconon drug rehabilitation program has been made available for Danes in this small town, a few hours west of Copenhagen. This year is special as the facility has recently undergone renovations and upgrades, making it possible for staff to provide service to even more live-in students.
Narconon Denmark was founded in 1986 and has been operating at this location for 26 years. "It was time to invest in a thorough renovation of these 100-year-old houses which have provided a location for so many of our students to achieve drug-free lives within these walls" said Director, Morten Bjørn Larsen. "I am very grateful to all those who have contributed in so many ways to where we are now."
Many commendations and awards were presented at the event to volunteers, supporters and staff. Narconon International, on hand for the special occasion, presented a special commendation to the Danish staff for their hard work in creating such a beautiful facility and their decades of dedication to saving their countrymen and women.
The audience of 100 people enjoyed the long, lovely Scandinavian summer day with good food and live music. Many program graduates, some 20 years-plus, told personal stories of leading drug-free, ethical lives, giving inspiration to the younger generation of recent Narconon graduates.
Since its founding 46 years ago, the Narconon program has provided life skills education and training. The program goal is to help the recovering addict to develop practical abilities to confront and solve life’s difficulties -- without the destructive crutch of drugs.
Worldwide, Narconon comprises now over 50 centers and 200 groups providing drug rehabilitation and prevention services.
