Narconon East US Executive Director, Yvonne Rodgers, applauded Attorney General Bondi’s efforts in fighting the prescription drug abuse problem in FL at the 2013 RX Drug Abuse Summit in Orlando this week.

Narconon East US has two centers in Florida who had witnessed Bondi's successful efforts first had, Narconon Suncoast Rehabilitation Center in Spring Hill and Narconon Gulf Coast in Destin. Both have reported to Narconon East US that clients are finding it harder to get oxycodone’s in Florida.

Attorney General Bondi is a native of Tampa, is focused on protecting Floridians. Since 2011, Bondi has worked to rid Florida of deadly synthetic drugs, focused attention on the problem of human trafficking, strengthened penalties to stop pill mills, and addressed the problem of newborns exposed to the prescription drug their mothers abused.

Under Attorney General Bondi's leadership, Florida has made great stride in righting the prescription drug problem. When she took office, approximately seven people were dying every day as the result of prescription drug overdoses. Attorney General Bondi worked to rid the state of pill mills that were once the a primary source for prescription drug diversion in the Eastern United States. Within two years after making it one of her priorities, Florida saw a decrease in prescription drug deaths for the first time in nearly a decade.

"We applaud Bondi's efforts in FL. To contribute to her push our centers are increasing their efforts to help with the neonatal abstinence syndrome by increasing the number of drug prevent education lectures in schools and community women’s groups throughout the state. 80% of unwanted teen pregnancy occurs while under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Rodgers was shocked to learn that the cost of just one neonatal addicted baby being an average $41,000 vs. a healthy baby averaging $7200 in healthcare costs.
