Project Graduation is the type of program that aligns with that goal and we are happy to be able to contribute to a successful event where teenagers have a better alternative.

Narconon Riverbend Retreat Louisiana is proud to lend its support to Project Graduation with a cash donation and drug education DVDs. On Friday, May 11, 2012, the Senior Class of Denham Springs High School will hold its 10th annual graduation which will be followed by Project Graduation from 11:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. at the North Park Recreation Center in Denham Springs.

Project Graduation is an event held nationwide to provide a safe, alcohol and drug free environment which offers various activities for seniors on graduation night. Project Graduation began locally in Denham Springs in 2002 in response to the many hazardous and often harmful choices available on graduation night.

Narconon Riverbend Retreat representatives met with Flaget Deville, the coordinator of this year’s event. They presented her with a $400 contribution and hundreds of drug education videos to put in the gift bags for teens who attend Project Graduation this year. “I am moved to tears,” said Ms. Deville. “Drugs and alcohol have affected a lot of children in our community and to know there are friends like Narconon who work toward helping those who have been affected by it is truly touching.”

Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) reports that car crashes are the leading cause of death for teens and one out of three of those is alcohol related. “Running a long- term drug rehabilitation center, we see first-hand the effects of drug and alcohol abuse,” said Cathy Steiner, Executive Director of Narconon Riverbend Retreat. “While we are addressing addiction through our rehabilitation program, we also realize that part of the answer is to be pro-active in stopping addiction before it starts. Project Graduation is the type of program that aligns with that goal and we are happy to be able to contribute to a successful event where teenagers have a better alternative.”

Narconon Riverbend Retreat has one of the highest success rates in the country, with seven out of ten graduates remaining drug-free after two years. This long-term success is primarily due to the structured treatment methods used throughout the program. Located in a beautiful and distraction free environment just outside Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Narconon is internationally recognized as the best solution for all walks of life.
