Elvis Presley. The King of Rock ‘n Roll. The musical and pop culture icon. The propriety-busting sex symbol. The labels placed on ‘The King’ are many, and yet, says author Maia Chrystine Nartoomid, few understand what lies beneath the surface of this American enigma. In her new book, “Blue Star Love: From an Amazing Heart of Grace” (published by Balboa Press), Nartoomid casts a revealing and captivating light on Elvis Presley, the man.

Nartoomid, who began as a fervent fan of Presley, grew to understand the entertainer’s spiritual leanings. Here, she explains her relationship with Presley:

“I was present at 36 of his live concerts … was able to give him my spiritual writings from stage side. I would learn later that he shared it... After his death, I became friends with Wanda June Hill, one of his personal friends, with whom he discussed his spiritual beliefs… much of what Elvis had related to her concerning the inner visions he had had since childhood, were similar to what I wrote about. She therefor entrusted me with the transcripts of taped (with his knowledge and permission) conversations she had with him on spiritual topics. With Wanda's permission I included excerpts of these transcripts in my book.”

“Blue Star Love” takes an unprecedented look at the spiritual life and beliefs of Presley. Based on recollections of people who were his friends or close to him, the book shows in intimate detail how Presley’s spiritual underpinnings informed all areas of his life, including his most lasting legacy – his music. Photocopies of Elvis’ handwritten letters and notes and other unique Elvis memorabilia included in the book document his deep interest in spirituality and metaphysics.
