The Monster Mile® racetrack at Dover International Speedway® hosts its second event on the 2011 NASCAR schedule Sept. 30 through Oct. 2, featuring the “AAA” 400 NASCAR Sprint® Cup Series race, NASCAR Nationwide® Series race; and the NASCAR K&N® Pro Series East race events.

For more than 40 years, The First State’s one-mile concrete oval has treated race fans, up to 135,000 per event, to electrifying action from the biggest names in the sport. This month’s event is the third race in the annual Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

Jimmie Johnson cruised to victory lane in last year’s Sprint Cup AAA 400, while Kyle Busch took the checkered flag at last year’s Nationwide Dover 200.

Last year’s autumn race winners were:

  • Sprint Cup: Johnson, finishing ahead of Jeff Burton, Joey Logano, Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Busch, Paul Menard, Ryan Newman, Denny Hamlin and A.J. Allmendinger.
  • Nationwide Series: Busch, followed by Logano, Edwards, Reed Sorenson, Kevin Harvick, Trevor Bayne, Menard, Jason Leffler, Justin Allgaier and Newman.

Last fall, Danika Patrick made her NASCAR debut at the Monster Mile.
