The area's first 100-percent electric vehicle dealership is holding a grand opening event at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 28, featuring Tennessee's first free solar powered electric vehicle charging station and the debut of Nashville-built Nogas electric vehicles.
The vehicles are custom engineered and designed by Nashville native James Arledge.
Nogas Electric Vehicle Co., 2612 Windford Ave., offers a product line of unique, zero-emissions vehicles including totally electric powered e-scooters, e-motorcycles and e-bikes.
Arledge is a former piano technician who designed and manufactured the Arledge 228 and 232 grand piano and Arledge piano strings, used worldwide by major piano manufacturers including American made Mason and Hamlin Piano Co. He had built computerized machines to manufacture piano strings, developing them into computerized technology that is used in the manufacture of the Nogas electric vehicle and products. Nogas Electric Vehicle is located in the previous location of Arledge Music Wire.
Arledge says that his electric vehicles use optional "green" batteries that can be turned into soil fertilizer. The fresh vegetable "Battery Garden" will be featured at the grand opening event. All Nogas products can be recharged by any 110V electrical outlet. Nogas also has solar power systems designed to charge the electric vehicles "off the grid" with the power of the sun, as well as Prius conversions for 50-mile, all-electric mode.
"Many of us want to do something positive in the direction of gas and oil independence and alternatives," Arledge said. "Until now, nothing has been truly viable due to poor performance. Now Nogas is making it affordable and available."
The Nogas headquarters will provide service for the electric vehicles. Nogas also has dealers in Pasadena, Calif. and San Diego.
The grand opening debut will feature demonstrations and test rides, along with short presentations about new technologies.
