Brenda Hall, CEO Bridge360 and Chair of the National District Export Council’ s Electronic Communications Committee, today announced the launch of districtexportcouncil.com, a new internet hub of export information services and guide for small-and medium-businesses who want to export their products and services into global markets.
With the announcement of President Obama’s National Export Initiative, businesses need a “starting point” for their global business journey. “Our new website is a great resource for companies new to exporting to begin, and a place to connect with seasoned global business experts associated with the regional District Export Councils (DECs) from around the country,” says, Hall.
The National and Regional DECs are embarking on aggressive export outreach programs. “Access to information is an imperative to the success of these initiatives,” continued Hall, “and the new website provides a portal to export resources, information about export education and programs, and links to government agencies, along with a published calendar of export events. These venues are sponsored by Regional DECs, the US Department of Commerce and the private business sector.”
The network of 56 DECS nationwide includes more than 1500 business leaders who volunteer their time to support exporting and free trade. “The national DEC is on the frontline of President Obama’s National Export Initiative, which aims to double exports in five years,” says Gregory Sandler, chairman of the National District Export Council, Inc. and president of ThinkGlobal Inc. “The new DEC website will provide cohesiveness and bolster communications for the DECs nationwide. That, in turn, will help American companies interested in exporting expand into overseas markets.”
A major objective for the new website is to give visitors up-to-date export information, and access to their local DEC leadership. Taking communications one step further, the new website provides access via social media icons such as Facebook, Twitter and RSS feeds to open conversations for businesses that are ready to talk exporting with global exporters in these communities.
About The District Export Councils
District Export Councils (DECs) are organizations of leaders from the local business community, appointed by successive Secretaries of Commerce, whose knowledge of international business provides a source of professional advice for local firms. For more than 30 years, DECs have served the United States by assisting companies in their local communities export, thus promoting U.S. economic growth and creating new and higher-paying jobs for their communities.
Closely affiliated with the U.S. Commercial Service's U.S. Export Assistance Centers, the 56 DECs combine the energies of more than 1,500 exporters and private and public export service providers throughout the United States. DEC members volunteer their time to sponsor and participate in numerous trade promotion activities, as well as to supply specialized expertise to small and medium-sized businesses that are interested in exporting.
The National District Export Council Inc. is a non-profit organization that consists of 16 representatives from across the United States. Its mission is to provide support and guidance for individual DECs, and to facilitate communication between the DECs, between the DECs and the U.S. Dept. of Commerce, and between the international business community and policymakers.
