Albany, NY (PRWEB) February 05, 2013

SmartWatt Energy today announced they achieved annual savings of 30,092 MWh in 2012 in the National Grid Small Business Services Program. The company provided energy-efficiency solutions to approximately 1,700 small businesses in Central and Northern New York to reach this goal. This was the third consecutive year SmartWatt Energy has either exceeded or achieved National Grid’s goals for the Program.

SmartWatt Energy administers and implements turnkey direct install programs for utilities nationwide. Their vertically integrated delivery model ensures close, in-house control over all aspects of the direct install program, from marketing and sales to energy auditing, project engineering and project installation coordination. SmartWatt Energy excels at targeting and promoting program incentives to hard-to-reach customer segments, such as small business owners and customers in remote or rural areas.

“In 2009 National Grid awarded SmartWatt the Small Business Services Program in Central New York, and by 2011, National Grid awarded SmartWatt the Small Business Services Program in Northern New York -- a historically difficult to reach market due to its remote location,” explained Kathy George, Program Director for National Grid. “SmartWatt’s leadership, creative contributions, and their commitment to the program in New York have saved customers more than 88,000 MWh of annual usage.”

The National Grid Small Business Services Program helps businesses, with an average peak demand of 100 kW or less per month, upgrade to energy-efficient lighting. Through this program, National Grid will pay up to 70 percent of the installation costs and finance the remaining amount interest-free for up to two years. Examples of these small business customers include parking garages, schools, gas stations, convenience stores, offices, and retail stores.
