The Real Food Company, the premier San Francisco natural food store, is making eating fun by offering specialty cooking classes that teach students how to prepare new and exciting recipes at home.
The spring cooking classes are being held now through June 29th at their Marina District store, located at 3060 Fillmore Street in San Francisco. The classes, taught by local chefs, include lessons on Indian fare by Anamika Khanna of Kasa Indian Eatery; raw foods by Christine Eubanks of Love and Tomatoes; and gluten-free cooking by Amy Fothergill of The Family Chef.
Special diet classes aren’t just for people with food sensitivities anymore. Gluten-free and raw food diets are becoming increasingly popular for anyone looking to try a more healthy and natural approach to eating. While the Indian cooking classes focus not only on traditional Indian fare, but also street style and fusion cooking styles.

Friday, June 3
Knife Skills Class with Chef Su Wun Harris
The single most important skill in the kitchen is knife handling. In Knife Skills, participants learn to slice, dice, and mince in the safest and most efficient manner. This class is a precursor to the Cooking Techniques Series. 6:30 pm to 8 pm, $45.

Indian “Fusion” Cooking with Anamika Khanna of Kasa Indian Eatery
Using Indian spices for non-traditional Indian meals has become very popular in London and America, where Indian cooks have adapted recipes to reflect their new surroundings. Learn to prepare and enjoy some of these new classics. 11 am to 1 pm, $45.

Comfort Foods: A Raw Foods Cooking Class with Christine Eubanks of Love and Tomatoes

Gluten-Free Family Dinner with Amy Fothergill, The Family Chef
Learn how to please the whole family with recipes that are gluten free, yet tasty to everyone. Amy will show participants how their loved ones can still savor every delicious bite, making this special diet more enjoyable for all. (Please note that this class takes place in the Real Food Company kitchen, which is a non-GF environment.) 6 to 7:30 pm, $45.
Wednesday, June 27th through Friday, June 29th
Cooking Techniques Class Series with Chef Su Wun Harris
Learn to cook like a chef. Over three evenings, attendees will build on the skills learned in Knife Skills. They will practice advanced knife skills, break down a chicken, make stock, sauté, braise, poach and prepare sauces. 6 to 7:30 pm, $130.
