Ties-necktie.com, one of the world’s largest online men’s accessories retailers, today announced that it is expanding into Spain with a new Spanish-language sister site at Corbatas.es. The retailer, already popular in Russia, Germany, France, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands and the United States, has headquarters in Hannover, Germany and San Francisco.

“We are happy to start operations in Spain. We have been seeing overwhelming popular demand from Spain for the last few years through Ties-necktie.com and we weren’t meeting it as well as we wanted to be. It’s wonderful to finally be able to serve Spain with faster shipping, Spanish-speaking customer service representatives and a wider selection of mens ties and bow ties through corbatas.es,” said Dr. Ferdinand Pohl, co-owner of the site. “We will continue to expand due to growing demand from our international customers.”

The tie empire was initially founded by Dr. Ferdinand Pohl, a retired businessman with a PhD in statistics, as a one-man home business in 2005. By 2007, demand for chic and affordable men’s accessories had grown so exponentially that Pohl enlisted his son Hendrik, a graduate of Santa Clara University with degrees in Marketing and Economics who made his home in San Francisco, to co-direct operations. Having already conquered the European online men’s accessories market, the two set out to expand into the United Sates. The San Francisco based retailer, Ties-Necktie.com, managed by Hendrik Pohl, was born.

Hendrik had a background in sales and marketing and, knowing that the future of e-commerce belonged to search engine optimization, he designed a marketing plan that relied heavily on SEO. He proceeded to teach himself the ins-and-outs of search engine optimization through books, forums, blogs and seminars. Within two years, he improved the visibility of Ties-Necktie.com and made the site among the highest ranked sites on the Google search results page. The company’s United States men’s accessories sales quickly started to multiply.

Today, Ferdinand and Hendrik Pohl, now co-owners of Ties-Neckties.com, also own and operate over twenty online retail sites focusing on men's fashion accessories. The mini-empire includes Mens-ties.com, Bows-n-ties.com, Tie-knots.org, Krawatten.com, and Tie-a-Tie.net. Combined, the Pohl family’s various online properties reach over 20 million unique visitors per year and impressions are growing at a double-digit rate. Now, the family owned business sells neckties all over the world, has exclusive distribution rights for several boutique designer brands, employs its own in-house fashion designers and even sells to other retailers.

The Pohls now have their eyes on expanding aggressively into the Canadian market, which, with no marketing efforts, already accounts for over 10% of their North American sales.
