NeonRoots, the Los Angeles-based custom web and interactive development team, has announced their partnership with Heroku, a leading cloud platform as a service (PaaS) and a salesforce.com company. This strategic alliance marks an intrinsic collaboration of strengths between NeonRoot’s advanced development technology and Heroku’s highly systematized platform for the deployment of application software.
As a cloud platform provider, Heroku is powered simultaneously with Git and Rack based services allowing a unique experience for open-source developers. Through their new alliance, NeonRoots will have access to the Heroku beta program essentially allowing them to preview new technologies for a more engaged customer experience. Heroku will also provide technical support focusing on deployment and data management issues. Drew Harding and Ben Lee, co-founders of NeonRoots, described joining forces with Heroku as an innovative pairing of technical skills and creative synergy between the two companies.
Drew Harding stated, “With Heroku’s SaaS cloud-based platform we can build and scale MVPs in one location. This has been one of the greatest benefits of partnering with Heroku as it allows us to focus completely on the design and code development without having to stretch our resources into managing deployment operations.”
“NeonRoots has been a standout partner for Heroku, both as an early and active participant of the new Heroku Partner Program and Directory and as valued members of our developer community,” said Nicolas Pujol, VP of business development, Heroku. “NeonRoots takes an innovative approach to app development, and it’s really exciting to see how they take full advantage of the flexibility and scale of the Heroku platform to support their development from design to deployment without having to worry about managing the backend.”
NeonRoots and Heroku recently teamed up for the launch of the Size Matters app created for Size Records, the industry pioneer of electronic music led by Steve Angello of Swedish House Mafia. NeonRoots built an augmented reality app allowing fans to access the music and artists of Size Records through 3D animation including interactive artist profiles and never-before-heard tracks. The Size Matters app is currently available in iTunes.
With projects in the NeonRoots pipeline quickly gaining momentum, syncing with Heroku’s advanced app running technology was the next step in expanding their reach. Already in development, NeonRoots is working with Heroku on their most recent project, Stylus. Stylus is a jazz app for the digital music service, Spotify. The app creates an accessible and visually intuitive way to enter the expansive world of jazz music. Stylus allows the casual jazz listener to explore, track, and build a library of favorite songs and albums while learning about related artists and jazz sub-genres.
Heroku has played a critical role in the building process of the Stylus app. The lead Stylus developer added, "Heroku enables us to easily deploy our Sinatra application from our development environment using git. We don't need to bother with confusing user interfaces for configuration issues since everything can be done in a shell. The gain of time allows us to entirely focus on the development.”
Heroku, a salesforce.com company, has enabled hundreds of thousands of developers to build and run more than two million applications - all entirely in the cloud, without the need to purchase or maintain any servers or software. With support for the most popular languages, an enterprise class database service and an add-on ecosystem featuring the most innovative development tools, Heroku provides start-ups, IT organizations and agencies with a faster and more effective way to create and deploy apps.
