More users are accessing the Internet through mobile devices, and businesses need to be ready to capitalize on consumer connection opportunities on those platforms.

As search engines get “hyperlocal,” the businesses that know how to be found by and connect with local customers stand to gain the most. Kurt Krejny and Joe Fox of Fathom Online Marketing will demonstrate ways to achieve local search marketing success at this month’s NEOUPA event on May 24th, hosted at 8200 Sweet Valley Drive, Suite 100, in Valley View, Ohio. NEOUPA (pronounced “knee-OH-pa”) is the acronym for the Northeast Ohio chapter of the international Usability Professionals’ Association.

Online registration is free for NEOUPA members and $10 for non-members. The May 24th meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. with networking and socializing, to be followed by announcements at 6:50 and the feature presentation from 7:00-8:30 p.m.

Kurt Krejny, Fathom’s Director of SEM Best Practices, had this to say about local search: “As search engines become more sophisticated in how they track local search and social network activity, it’s absolutely essential for businesses to be seen in those places where their local audiences (and potential local audiences) are seeking them. More users are accessing the Internet through mobile devices, and businesses need to be ready to capitalize on consumer connection opportunities on those platforms.”

The presentation will cover how businesses can improve local search visibility, including:

  • Making the most of Google Places
  • Getting online reviews
  • Being found online by people in the geographic vicinity
  • Building long-lasting relationships with local customers
  • Using the social wisdom of crowds to attain rankings

To recap the main details, online registration for the May 24th NEOUPA event is now open. The event takes place from 6:30-8:30 p.m. The topic is: “Engaging Your Best & Closest Customers: Understanding Local Search Marketing Success.” Admission is free for NEOUPA members and $10 for non-members.

The event will take place at:
