NetApp and Acclaro Celebrate the Two-Year Anniversary of their Localization Staffing Partnership

There are a lot of twos for translation agency Acclaro in 2012—the Acclaro blog two-year celebration a month ago, and now in April, the two-year anniversary of partnering with NetApp to staff their global localization review efforts.

NetApp, a six billion dollar Silicon Valley powerhouse, designs and manufactures storage systems and provides operating systems, data management, and content delivery software. The company sells these products in more than a hundred countries around the globe; in fact, nearly 50% of NetApp revenue comes from countries outside of the United States.

NetApp partnered with Acclaro in 2010 for localization staffing solutions abroad in order to accomplish a previously impossible feat—global SimShip of their localized product marketing and support material. Their goal was two-fold: to obtain high-quality review of translated content, and to release translated materials in synch with in-country product launches.

“In-country review used to be a bottleneck for us since we lacked the dedicated time it takes for internal resources to handle the thorough linguistic workload in each market, on a consistent and timely basis, let alone coordinated schedules across the globe to SimShip, and all that with great quality!” recalls Anna N. Schlegel, director of NetApp’s Globalization Programs Strategy Office. “Acclaro helped us transform the linguistic review process, leading several aspects of recruiting, hiring, training and managing our globally-distributed linguistic reviewers as well as other contracted localization personnel.”

Acclaro helped to build a dedicated review team for NetApp in France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Holland, Russia, Israel, Brazil, Korea, Japan, UK, Mexico, Hong Kong, and China. The Acclaro human resources and operations team screened and placed team leads in these countries to work alongside local personnel. The reviewers were trained in-house so that they’d fully understand the company-sanctioned communication norms and terminology.
